1. Because the mold is developing in the direction of large-scale, the mold of several tons to dozens of tons is very common for a long time, so the machine tool workbench is required to bear large weight, which requires that the equipment must have the characteristics of large load-bearing and high rigidity, and must also have a large enough table size and work stroke to adapt to it. In addition, the strength and hardness of mold materials are very high. In addition, small-diameter end mills with large elongation are often used to process mold cavities, so the machining process is prone to chatter. In order to ensure the machining accuracy and surface quality of parts, high-speed machine tools for mold manufacturing must have high dynamic and static stiffness to improve the positioning accuracy, tracking accuracy and anti vibration ability of machine tools
2, high speed and high power high-speed machining is the development direction. High speed milling has shown great advantages in mold processing. In order to adapt to the processing of the mold cavity surface, the radius of the tool should be less than the minimum circumference radius of the cavity surface, so as to avoid the "interference" between the tool and the workpiece in the processing process. Due to the small diameter of the tool, the spindle speed is required to be very high. The foreign high-speed software is also the same. The spindle speed of the machining machine tool has reached 40000 ~ 100000 R/MI. For the experimental machine n, the rapid feed speed can reach 30000 ~ 60000 min. The rough and finish machining of cavities and other parts of mold parts is often completed in one-time clamping of the workpiece, so the spindle power is large. The spindle power of medium-sized mold milling machines and machining centers is often 10 ~ 40kW, and some are even higher
3. Multi axis linkage and good comprehensive cutting ability of deep hole cavity. Mold cavities are mostly composed of complex spatial six curved surfaces and grooves, and many molds have deep hole cavities. In order to achieve high-precision, high-speed and high stability machining of 3D surfaces, machine tools need to have the following fault reasons: shaft linkage, and have good comprehensive cutting ability of deep hole cavity. Five axis linkage machining center can be used. In addition to the linear motion of three coordinates, there are also two feeding motions of rotating coordinates. The milling head or worktable can carry out continuous rotary feed with multi axis linkage, so it is suitable for machining mold parts with complex cavity surfaces
it can be said that compound processing is one of the development directions of mold processing. Although the machining center has been able to compound many machining processes on a machine tool, it still can not fully adapt to mold processing. Compound machining with different principle processing methods such as electricity, chemistry and ultrasonic, and compound machining with more than two process characteristics will have broad prospects in mold manufacturing in the future
